Gooburrum State School is nestled amongst rich farming land, just 8km from the Bundaberg CBD, along Moore Park Road.

Ours is a school steeped in history. Standing proud since 1884, we are here for our local community and for those who choose to be a part of it. I can honestly say that this is a school like no other. Our results in academic, sporting and cultural arenas are second to none in our region, whether comparing to large or small schools. What I am most proud of though, is the communication we build upon daily, so that all stakeholders feel welcome and valued. We strive together for progress in order to ensure that our students become the best citizens they possibly can be, while being happy, positive young people along the way.

Our school currently has six classes – Prep, Year 1, Years 2/3, Years 3/4, Years 5/6K and Years 5/6S.  Our classrooms are run by high quality classroom teachers who focus upon differentiated learning, catering for the individual needs of our students. To support this, we are fortunate to have the services of a special education teacher, who works several days in the school each fortnight. Classrooms are also strongly supported by the involvement of teacher aides who provide assistance to both students and staff. Our approach to providing quality teaching and learning in our school is very much based upon teamwork.

Additionally we are serviced by two Guidance Officers and various visiting specialist teachers who work in our school each week. Our community is also very lucky to have the benefit of an Outside School Hours Care service which provides care before and after school hours, as well as vacation care for those students requiring it.

I am extremely grateful to our active, dedicated parent group for all they bring do to support our school community. We are a far better school because of their involvement, effort and genuine interest in their children.

I am thankful for the excellent staff I work alongside and commend these professionals for their role in making our school such a successful productive place of learning and development.

Welcome to Gooburrum State School: A place we are proud of!
